Denver City Government to Close at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 Due to Inclement Weather
DENVER - Due to inclement weather today, Nov. 8, 2024, the City and County of Denver offices, including the Denver Public Library and Recreation Centers, will close at 1 p.m. Glenarm Recreation Center at 2800 Glenarm Pl. will remain open until 7 p.m. and will continue to act as a daytime warming center.
Essential services such as public safety, emergency response, snow removal, and traffic operations will continue as scheduled. 311 will operate regular hour 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Denver International Airport is open. Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport with their airline or on www.flydenver.com.
Cold Weather Shelter will be activated through this Saturday morning. 24/7 shelter is available through 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Stone Creek shelter (former Best Western hotel), 4595 Quebec St. and at city facilities located at 2601 W. 7th Ave., and 375 S. Zuni St.
Individuals in need of shelter are encouraged to go to the city's "front door" shelter access points (denvergov.org/findshelter), which have also expanded capacity for the cold weather. Front door shelters include:

Storm Travel and Safety Tips

Driving If driving, please go slowly, leave ample stopping distance, and approach intersections cautiously. Treat any dark or flashing red traffic signals as four-way stops.

Biking: Cyclists should be prepared for shared-lane conditions and may consider alternate transport options based on conditions. Use appropriate winter tires if riding. Protected bikeways will be cleared regularly, though snow accumulation may delay maintenance.
Snow and Tree Safety

Tree Snow Removal: Remove snow from trees with a broom if they are free of utility lines. Avoid shaking branches too vigorously to prevent breakage.

Downed Trees: For emergency tree removal to clear streets, call 311. Property owners are responsible for clearing debris from trees on their property and adjacent public right-of-way areas.
Tree Branch Disposal

Residential Trash Collection: Residents may set out up to 10 bundles of branches (max 4 inches in diameter, 4 feet long, and 50 lbs per bundle) on their large item pickup day.

Power Lines

Avoid downed power lines and report them to Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-1999. If a power line is in contact with a tree or other object, call 911.
Sidewalk Snow Removal

Property owners are required to clear sidewalks for safe access, including ADA ramps and bus stops.

Businesses must clear sidewalks immediately after snowfall, while residences have until the next day.

Un-shoveled sidewalks may lead to fines. Report un-shoveled sidewalks to Denver 311.
