WASHINGTON, D.C. - Joint Staff Spokesperson Navy Capt. Jereal Dorsey provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., spoke with Chief of the Israeli General Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi yesterday by phone.

Gen. Brown and Lt. Gen. Halevi discussed ongoing security developments in the Middle East and the need to de-escalate tensions across the region.

The U.S. continues to advocate for a ceasefire and hostage agreement, as well as necessary actions to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
