Residents asked to check yards, sheds, garages for 91-year-old man missing from Canley Vale

A geo-targeted text appeal for help is being sent to residents in the Canley Vale areas and surrounds.

Police are asking people in the Canley Vale, Canley Heights and Fairfield areas to check their backyards, sheds and garages as they continue to search for a 91-year-old man missing from Sydney's west overnight.

Mr Van Moi Bui was last seen in Prospect Road, Canley Vale about 9pm on yesterday (Tuesday July 23 2024).

When he was unable to be located or contacted, officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police and family hold serious concerns for Mr Bui's welfare due to his age and the low overnight temperatures. Mr Bui's family has told police he does not speak English and lives with dementia.

He is described as being of Asian appearance, about 160cm tall, thin build, dark grey hair and brown eyes.

The photo police have posted depicts what he wearing when last seen: blue/grey trackpants and a grey jacket.

Mr Bui is known to frequent the Canley Vale area.

Please are asking people in the area to check their backyards, sheds and garages in case Mr Bui has taken shelter inside overnight.
