Resident Shoots and Kills a Man in Front of His Home

At approximately 4 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024, the Sheriff's Communications Center received a 911 call from a resident on the 7700 block of MacFadden Drive in South Sacramento, stating that he shot someone outside of his home. Central Patrol Division Deputies quickly arrived on scene and discovered one adult male lying in the driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound. Sacramento Metro Fire District arrived on scene and transported the subject to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Sheriff's Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, began their investigation, interviewed witnesses, and began to gather evidence. The investigation is still active, and Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the Sheriff's Office at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).

No arrests have been made at this time. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the deceased in accordance with their protocols.
