Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen to meet with Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 27 June, to discuss the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman's 2022 Annual Report.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from Mr Liam Sloyan, Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO), and Ms MaryRose McGovern, Deputy Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman, and Dr Aoibhín de Búrca, Director of Corporate and Communication Services.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: "The Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman is an independent, free service that helps resolve complaints from consumers, including small businesses and other organisations, against financial service providers and pension providers. The Committee looks forward to meeting with Mr Sloyan and his colleagues and having a wide-ranging discussion on the 2022 FSPO Report and related matters."

The Committee will also consider the following petitions:

  • Public Petition Number P00028/24 'Credit Unions' (resumed);
  • Public Petition Number P00040/24 'Request for Mental Health Facilities';
  • Public Petition Number P00047/24 'Vote against any WHO pandemic treaty and reform'.

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.
