The Wheaton Police Department did not locate a firearm on school premises or any ongoing threat to the students, staff or building and deemed it safe to resume the school day. The secure and teach was lifted at approximately 11:00 a.m. Students and staff may see an increased police presence throughout the day today and tomorrow.
The students who were identified as being involved in this situation may receive disciplinary action as outlined in the Community Unit School District (CUSD) 200 student handbook and may face criminal charges as the criminal investigation is ongoing.
The safety of the Wheaton community, including all students and staff, is the top priority of the Wheaton Police Department. Anytime there is a reported safety concern, the Police Department and CUSD 200 work collaboratively to ensure it is thoroughly investigated and the appropriate resources and disciplinary measures have been implemented.

The Wheaton Police Department has placed Wheaton North High School on a secure and teach while they are investigating a report of an alleged threat. Wheaton Police officers are at the school, and all students and staff are secure. Students are in their classrooms while police continue investigating the alleged threat. We will provide an update once more information is available.
