The Spokane Regional Continuum of Care's annual snapshot estimate of the local unhoused population is set for January 21-29, 2025.

The Point-In-Time (PIT) Count is a nationwide event that seeks to identify and better serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Information collected during the local PIT count is sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Washington State Department of Commerce, giving them a snapshot of people experiencing both sheltered and unsheltered homelessness throughout Spokane County.

"Data collected during the Point-in-Time Count helps us understand community needs, inform policy, and direct resources to address homelessness most effectively and with compassion," Mayor Lisa Brown said.

The count is conducted by volunteers who survey people experiencing homelessness in the City of Spokane, City of Spokane Valley, and throughout Spokane County. Volunteers are needed and those looking to help can share their interest by signing up here. More information on volunteer registration and the required training will be emailed as the PIT Count gets closer.

More information on the PIT Count can be found here.
