On August 21, 2024, State Police of Schodack, with the assistance of the Schodack Police Department, arrested Boice J. Crawford, 31, of Valatie, NY, for attempted Grand Larceny in the third degree.

On August 21, 2024, at about 6:02 a.m., a Rensselaer County resident reported they observed Crawford on their property without permission, attaching their commercial-grade cooking equipment to a vehicle. Crawford and the individual driving the vehicle were unknown to the victim. The victim confronted Crawford before he could remove the property, at which point Crawford unhooked the equipment and fled the scene in the vehicle.

Later that morning, the Schodack Police Department located the vehicle involved in the attempted crime in the parking lot of a Schodack Motel. A search of the area located Crawford, who was taken into custody.

Crawford was transported to SP Schodack for processing. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Schodack Town Court on August 21, 2024, and released.

This investigation is ongoing.
