Engineering Welcomes Students With Two Weeks of Daily Activities

College of Engineering Welcome Weeks

The College of Engineering is thrilled to kick off the new academic year with engaging Welcome Weeks activities designed to welcome back students and help them prepare for a successful semester.

This year's Welcome Weeks, happening Aug. 19-30, are packed with activities catering to new and returning students, offering social, academic and professional development experiences. Unless otherwise noted, activities will happen at the top of the ramp on the campus side of Bell Engineering Center.

Highlights include:

Monday, Aug. 19, and Tuesday, Aug. 20

7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. - Help A Hog table - Volunteers helping students navigate campus and answer questions

Tuesday, Aug. 20

5-7 p.m. - Ice cream social - This casual event brings together students and employer partners to enjoy ice cream while testing their trivia knowledge. Location: Bell 4008

Wednesday, Aug. 21

9-10 a.m. - Doughnuts with the dean

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-3:30 p.m. - Popcorn with Tau Beta Pi

Thursday, Aug. 22

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-3:30 p.m. - Cupcakes with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

Friday, Aug. 23

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - Ice cream mixer with Student Success Team

Monday, Aug. 26

8:30-9:30 a.m. - Coffee with oSTEM

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-3:30 p.m. - Snack break with Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

Tuesday, Aug. 27

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-3:30 p.m. - Cookies with American Indian Science and Engineering

Wednesday, Aug. 28

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. - College of Engineering RSO Fair

Thursday, Aug. 29

2-3:30 p.m. - College of Engineering RSO Fair

Friday, Aug. 30

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. - Popsicles with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

Patrice Storey, assistant director of community and engagement, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming events.

"Welcome Weeks are a fantastic opportunity for our students to dive into the new semester with excitement and energy. We are committed to supporting our students academically and socially, and this week is just the beginning of a momentous year ahead," she said.
