PHILADELPHIA -

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support welcomed aboard Andrew Pisney in August 2024 to serve as a Subsistence produce customer specialist for the North Central region.

The retired United States Army chief warrant officer served as a food service technician throughout his military career and began his civilian career in 2006 as the food program manager at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. During those years, Pisney deployed to Afghanistan in 2020 and performed duties as the area support group food service specialist at Kandahar Airfield and Bagram Airfield.

"Bringing Andrew Pisney on our team means we gain a person with tremendous experience with understanding and resolving customer support issues," said Deputy Director of the Subsistence supply chain Gary Shifton. "Back in 2003, in support of OIF Andy was incredibly calm while under significant pressure and was able to communicate the requirements and timing required in order to meet all requirements per location in a clear and concise manner; allowing our capability to move forward with truck deliveries throughout Iraq."

Preforming duties in various locations as a DLA representative, Pisney will be working closely with DLA Troop Support tailored vendor logistics specialists, the vendors, and the customers in the states of Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

"The Warfighters can expect that I will provide them with world-class support just like the rest of the DLA team already does," said Pisney. "Being in the trenches as a Warfighter the past 38 years, I know the challenges at the lower operational level, and I will approach my duties and interactions with them with that perspective in mind."

Pisney has conducted close work with DLA throughout his past careers and is ready to continue his dedication.

"My short-term goal is to get up to speed on the specific system operational procedures I need to know to be able to assist my teammates, the vendors, and the customers," said Pisney.

Pisney stated a few of his accomplishments that stand out the most.

"The theater food advisor for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, my deployment to Afghanistan in 2020 and at Fort McCoy during Operation Allied Welcome in 2021-2022.  Each of these experiences allowed me to grow personally and professionally in my ability to provide quality food service to those that I was supporting, he said"

Shifton acknowledged how instrumental Pisney was in working a major procurement for Subsistence in the past.

"Andrew was key with working and communicating the requirements for the Afghani refugees via be Operation Allied Welcome in NORTHCOM," said Shifton. "He understands his work responsibility from an end use customer site perspective.  Andrew also knows it's never a singular person to come forward with solutions but rather a team-based approach."
