The United States Provides $1 Million in Humanitarian Assistance for Typhoon Yagi

Today, the United States, through USAID, announced $1 million in humanitarian assistance in response to Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. With this aid, USAID humanitarian partners will provide shelter support; water, sanitation, and hygiene assistance; other vital relief supplies; and multipurpose cash assistance to flood-affected households in support of the Government of Vietnam's leadership in this response.

Typhoon Yagi made landfall over northern Vietnam on September 7 with wind speeds of up to 127 miles per hour, generating heavy rainfall, and subsequent flooding and landslides that resulted in 143 deaths and injury to 800 others, along with the destruction of more than 48,000 houses and approximately 455,000 acres of agricultural land.

The United States continues to stand with the people of Vietnam as they respond to the impacts of Typhoon Yagi.
