THIRD SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR EL CAJON DOUBLE HOMICIDE

DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: 10/28/23 @ 11:57 PM

LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 700 block of Mahogany Drive, El Cajon

RESUME OF INCIDENT:

On October 28, 2023, at approximately 11:57 PM, the El Cajon Police Department responded to a series of 9-1-1 calls reporting a loud house party and multiple gunshots in the 700 block of Mahogany Drive in El Cajon. Upon arrival, officers saw numerous people fleeing from the area. Two victims, a 16-year-old male and an 18-year-old male, were found critically wounded. Despite swift medical attention, both victims succumbed to their injuries after being transported to local trauma hospitals. Homicide detectives learned at least two suspects were involved in the double homicide and had fled in a vehicle before police arrival.

During the subsequent investigation, detectives utilized the Flock Safety automated license plate reader system to identify the getaway vehicle used in the crime. Additionally, two suspects, 21-year-old Bruce Luu and 24-year-old Dan Nalab, both City of San Diego residents, were identified. Dan Nalab was taken into custody on November 18^th by the Chula Vista Police Department for an unrelated firearm charge.

On November 20^th, with the assistance of the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and the East County Regional Gang Task Force, El Cajon Police officers and detectives apprehended Bruce Luu in San Diego. Search warrants were later served at Bruce Luu's and Dan Nalab's residences.

As the investigation continued, a third and final suspect, 19-year-old City of San Diego resident Orsbuin Young, was identified. On December 1^st, with the assistance of the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and San Diego Police Department, El Cajon Police officers and detectives apprehended Young at a residence in San Diego. After the arrest, the El Cajon Police Department SWAT team served search warrants at the residence where Young was apprehended and at his home, also in San Diego.

Bruce Luu, Dan Nalab, and Orsbuin Young are being held without bail in the San Diego County Central Jail on first-degree murder charges.
