On August 15, 2024, State Police members arrested Rodger H. Melin,age 29, of Peru, NY. Melin was arrested and charged with one count of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, one count of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child and one count Obscenity 3rd Degree. A multiple agency investigation determined, Melin admitted to possessing, downloading and sharing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM ) along with images of bestiality. No images were self-produced.

He was arraigned in the Town of Peru Court, where he was remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 Cash, $2,000 bond and $5,000 partially secured bond.

The New York State Police Troop B Computer Crime Unit was assisted by Troop B FIU, SP Plattsburgh Uniform Force, United States Homeland Security Investigations Rouses Point Branch, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration Plattsburgh Resident Office.
