Late night track work in July will reroute Blue Line to New Carrollton

Late night track work on select nights in July will alter the routing of the Blue Line after 10 p.m.

Blue Line trains will operate from Franconia-Springfield to New Carrollton (instead of Downtown Largo) after 10 p.m. from Monday, July 8 to Thursday, July 18 and then again Monday, July 22 - Thursday, July 25.

Silver Line trains will still operate from Ashburn to Downtown Largo but will single track between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road after 10 p.m. with trains every 20 minutes.

Service Information

Blue Line:

  • Blue Line trains will operate as usual until 10 p.m.
  • After 10 p.m., trains will reroute to New Carrollton to avoid single tracking- allowing trains to run on their normal evening frequency of every 15 minutes.

Silver Line:

  • Silver Line trains will operate as usual until 10 p.m.
  • After 10 p.m., trains will single track between Stadium-Armory and Addison Road and will run every 20 minutes.

Metro will be installing radio, fiber, and cables. The work is essential to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the Metrorail system. We encourage all passengers to plan accordingly and allow extra travel time during these periods.
