Join Us for Our Seattle Home Fairs

Once again, the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) is hosting the popular Seattle Home Fairs in your community. There are going to be two this year, with one in the north end and one in the south end. We moved the Seattle Home Fairs to the fall so we can answer your questions in time for you to apply for, and receive, that construction permit for your planned spring/summer renovation project.

These free events will be jam-packed with useful information about rental housing rules, our permitting and inspection process, emergency preparedness, and much more. Get a jump-start on your home improvement project. Whether you're a homeowner, landlord, renter, or potential homeowner, the Home Fairs will have something for you. Ask us about our permitting process, inspections, code requirements and rental housing rules. You can also attend lectures on earthquake retrofits, rental regulations, inspections, and trees regulations.

North Seattle Home Fair Lectures:

• 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Earthquake Retrofits
  Join us for an introduction to the new prescriptive plan set for earthquake retrofits and a discussion about what it means to seismically retrofit an existing home.
• 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. - Inspections 101
  Our inspectors will provide an overview of SDCI's inspection process.
• 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. - Renting in Seattle
  Whether you are a renter or a housing provider, there is a lot to know. Renting in Seattle provides information and resources on rental regulations and fair housing laws in the city of Seattle as well as tips and best practices.

South Seattle Home Fair Lectures:

• 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. - Earthquake Retrofit

• 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. - Tree Regulations
  SDCI staff will present an overview of Seattle's tree regulations, including an update on what's changed since the revised rules became effective on July 30, 2023. This session will focus on information most useful for homeowners and tree service providers.
• 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. - Renting in Seattle
  Whether you are a renter or a housing provider, there is a lot to know. Renting in Seattle provides information and resources on rental regulations and fair housing laws in the city of Seattle as well as tips and best practices.
