Be prepared for Election Day 2024

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Review our frequently asked questions before you prepare to vote.

Polls across the state open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters who are in line by 7 p.m. are entitled to cast a ballot.

How do I register to vote?

Register to vote by Wednesday, Oct. 9, by visiting Vote.gov. You may also register in person at the Boone County Clerk's Office, 801 E. Walnut St. Room 236. Mizzou students from outside Boone County can use their student/local address to register and vote in Boone County or use their permanent home address to register and vote in their home precinct. Where is my polling place?

All registered Boone County voters can vote at Memorial Union on Tuesday, Nov. 5. To find your Boone County polling place, visit www.showmeboone.com/clerk/elections and click on "Where Do I Vote?"

I am a faculty/staff member at Mizzou. Do I get time off to vote?

All university employees may receive time off with pay for the purpose of voting.

What identification do I need to bring to vote?

Examples of acceptable forms of identification can be found on the Missouri Secretary of State's website.

Where can I find my sample ballot?

Enter your address at Missouri's Voter Outreach Center.

Information about absentee and mail-in voting

Eligible voters can fill out an absentee ballot application at the Boone County Government Center at 801 E. Walnut St., show their ID and cast their ballot in person. The government center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday between Oct. 22 and Nov. 4 for no-excuse absentee voting.

You may also request a mailed absentee ballot any time before Oct. 23. In Missouri, mailed absentee ballots must be requested from your county clerk's office and signed in front of a notary public who will then authorize the ballot before submission. Visit vote.missouri.edu for a list of notaries available at the MU Student Center. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by the Boone County Clerk's Office by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

Election night reporting

The Secretary of State's Election Night Reporting site is available at enr.sos.mo.gov and will be updated throughout the evening of Nov. 5. The site will begin showing results once all voters have finished casting ballots.
