EU Proposing 12-Month Delay for Deforestation Regulations

In a press release published on October 2, 2024, the European Commission proposed a 12-month delay in its implementation of the European Union (EU) Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

EUDR was originally scheduled to be applicable from December 30, 2024, for large businesses. This delay was proposed after the EU commission received feedback from concerned parties on their current state of preparations. The press release also includes links to guidance documents to "provide additional clarity to companies and enforcing authorities to facilitate the application of the rules."

If the delay is approved, EUDR would go into effect on December 30, 2025, for large companies and June 30, 2026, for micro and small businesses.
