Lead Hazard Reduction Program Launching October 28, 2024

Fontana, CA (October 8, 2024) - The City of Fontana's Housing Department is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the Lead Hazard Reduction program on October 28, 2024. This program aims to prevent childhood lead poisoning and unsafe lead hazard conditions within Fontana residencies.

"Ensuring the health and safety of our children is one of our top priorities," said Fontana Mayor Acquanetta Warren. "The launch of the Lead Hazard Reduction program is another vital step in our ongoing efforts to create safer, healthier homes for Fontana's families. We are grateful for the partnership with HUD and the hard work of our City Council and Housing Department in making this program a reality."

Fontana's Housing Development Manager, Valerie Gonzales says, "I want to thank the Fontana City Council and federal partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for their efforts to protect the health and safety of our community's most vulnerable - children. This funding will help identify and remediate lead hazards that are present in eligible properties, creating safe homes that Fontana families deserve."

Eligible households with children under the age of six and pregnant women will be given priority, but all qualified applicants will receive the assistance they need.

Property owners or property managers must apply for properties that are renter-occupied. Applications from individual tenants will not be accepted.

Applications will become available beginning October 28, 2024. More information can be found here.
