Affordable housing is a key part of a major new residential development in Greenville's West End.
Developers leveraged the City's new development code to add "bonus height" to the project, qualifying for an additional story of height by committing up to 20% of its units as affordable, with rents set between 40% and 80% of the area median income.
The project has gone through several iterations over the years, incorporating significant input from the West End community.
Portions of the Mosaic residential housing development at 605 Academy Street received conditional approval from the Design Review Board (DRB) in November 2024, bringing Greenville one step closer to 65 additional affordable homes.
Mosaic will feature three five-story, mixed-use buildings and two levels of underground parking with 379 spaces. A grocer is being targeted as an anchor tenant. Additional aspects of the Mosaic development are expected to come before the DRB in the coming months.
