BOZEMAN - Registration is now open for middle and high school teams for the Montana Science Olympiad state tournament, which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Montana State University.

MSU's Science Math Resource Center, which is part of the College of Education, Health and Human Development, runs the annual statewide competition and will host an online presentation from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, for new and returning coaches. The presentation will include information on the benefits and logistics of starting a team, how scoring works and events for the upcoming season. It will also include tips from past coaches on recruiting and preparation. The presentation is free, but registration is required. A recording will be available for those who are unable to attend.

Registration links for the coach presentation are under the "School Teams and Coaches" button on the Science Math Resource Center website at www.montana.edu/smrc/mtso.

Science Olympiad is among the largest STEM competitions in Montana, with more than 1,000 students each year participating in events covering life sciences, chemistry, engineering and other topics. Schools register as a team, with individuals or pairs of students competing in various events. Students can earn medals in events. The school with the highest number of event points wins the state championship trophy and is eligible to compete in the national tournament.
