Retired Colonel Michael Cashner, vice president of government services for Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc., has been recognized with the National Defense Transportation Association's (NDTA) President's Award for outstanding leadership and dedicated support of the NDTA's mission.
According to NDTA's The Defense Transportation Journal, Cashner earned the prestigious award by working with the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) to strengthen relationships between the organization and the surface transportation industry during his 11-year tenure as an NDTA committee chairperson. Additionally, Cashner's efforts organizing NDTA meetings and his valuable insight during USTRANSCOM Executive Working Groups have led to solutions for critical transportation issues and improved national defense operations.
"Receiving the NDTA President's Award is incredibly humbling and gratifying," Cashner said. "The honor of advising our nation's senior military and federal government leaders and representing all surface modal carriers across the defense transportation industry has been one of my life's most challenging, meaningful and fulfilling roles." He added, "I also deeply appreciate the support and encouragement I've consistently received from everyone at Landstar as I have served in volunteer leadership roles for this association."
The NDTA is a non-political, nonprofit organization made up of 233 corporate members and 5,500 individual members. Each year, during the organization's Fall Meeting & Exposition, the NDTA presents a series of prestigious awards recognizing individual members, corporate members, chapters and military units demonstrating outstanding accomplishments in transportation, logistics and passenger travel services.
Landstar, a member of the NDTA since 1992, is among the largest truckload carriers in the United States to provide transportation services to the Department of Defense and is the largest U.S. carrier of highly sensitive and/or classified items.
