Skull and Bones Season 3, Into the Dragon’s Wake, Out Now

Skull and Bones Season 3: into the Dragon's Wake is out today, bringing a juggernaut of a new ship, electric new weapons, and a new pirate invading the Indian Ocean. Tensions have arisen as a new pirate lord, on the run from her emperor, seeks to gain a foothold in your empire. With an all-new Smugglers Pass, themed cosmetics, and electric rewards, you won't want to miss Skull and Bones: Into the Dragon's Wake.

Two Warring Pirate Lords

New pirate lords have sailed to the Indian Ocean, bringing danger and opportunity for a kingpin willing to risk it. Li Tian Ning is a rogue agent, trained in the emperor's elite naval unit called the Dragon's Claw, sent to the Indian Ocean to establish new trade routes. However, she disagrees with the emperor's methods and breaks away from the Dragon's Claw, forming her own faction called the Phoenix's Talon. Now, she amasses support and searches for Freeman's treasure while being pursued by Commander Zhang, leader of the Dragon's Claw. Commander Zhang is dogged in his pursuit, and will fight anyone who stands in his way. However, he's not the only one looking for the renegade pirate, as rumors grow that Li Tian Ning has caught the attention of a mysterious beast.

As an Elite Warship, the Dragon's Claw will be tough to take out. Commander Zhang has equipped his vessel with fiery weapons specializing in area denial and bombarding you and your allies with explosives and fire. His strategy is to weaken foes with an unyielding barrage worthy of any dragon. Li Tian Ning, the seasonal boss, also prefers to fight with fire (after all, she was trained by Commander Zhang). However, she prefers close-range battle to his long-range barrages, using her demi-cannons and ballista to weaken your ship until she's close enough to ram you. Throughout the season, she'll grow more powerful, adding items like homing demi-cannons, studded sails that slash and skewer attacking ships, firecrackers, and Phoenix Pyre to her arsenal.

New Ship and Weapons

A new threat means new tools to defeat them. A new ship, Battle Junk, is available through the Smuggler Pass. Nicknamed the Juggernaut, Battle Junk is designed to take heavy damage and create opportunities for allies to attack or make a quick escape. While sailing Battle Junk, weapons that hit within 200m apply Taunt charges, making the target vulnerable to 50% more weakpoint damage. Additionally, your crew's Brace Strength is increased by 150%, and Brace Strength Recovery increased by 25%. Its upgrades include better navigation stats, more furniture slots, and a new Endure perk where bracing against incoming damage reduces damage taken from subsequent attacks.

Defeating Li Tian Ning will reward you with the Phoenix Talons, a powerful demi-cannon that lands 18 hits in a single volley, dealing massive burning damage. It also deals 200% damage to targets that already have the Ablaze effect, and builds Taunt status. Heaven's Mandate, won by defeating the sea dragon, is a carronade-style cannon with two perks. The first perk, Heaven's Wrath means that when targets with the Stormstruck effect are hit, there is a 25% chance to summon a devastating lightning attack. The second perk, Lightning II, adds 20% of damage as shock damage to targets. Other new weapons sailing in with Into the Dragon's Wake include the Divine Thunder long gun, Bane of the Ten Suns ballista, the White Jade cannon, Crouching Tiger Gun, and more.

World Events

As Li Tian Ning's presence in the Indian Ocean grows, a vicious sea dragon will take to the skies. If you're struck by one of his lightning attacks, you can spread lightning damage to other players, so be careful of taking him on in close quarters.

There are also time-limited events to watch out for. Races are back, but this time with a unique twist: they're an elaborate trap to destroy megacorporation ships. Later in the season, the Halloween-inspired Requiem of the Lost event will begin, complete with themed cannons and pumpkin buoys. Players will take on ghost ships called the Lost Roamers, whose immune status can only be broken by repair weapons. For every Lost Roamer they sink, they'll earn Halloween Tears and Tokens, which can be exchanged at the event vendor for prizes. After sinking a number of Lost Roamers, the elite boss Reaper of the Lost will appear, giving players a chance to defeat it and earn special rewards.

And of course, the season wouldn't be complete without new pets to unlock through the Smugglers Pass. Into the Dragon's Wake brings two friendly faces to your ship's deck: a green iguana and a baby tiger.
