Graham on Visit to Norway

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement following his visit to Norway. Senator Graham met with Norwegian Minister of Defense Bjørn Arild Gram and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide in Oslo, Norway.

"I had a very productive visit to our great ally, Norway. I spent time with the Norwegian Special Operations Command and was very impressed with their skill and dedication to duty. I enjoyed my meetings with Defense Minister Gram and Foreign Minister Eide, where we agreed that continued support for Ukraine is in our mutual interest.

"Norway is a great example of what a NATO partner should be like. They are committed to exceeding their two percent GDP contribution and marching towards three percent. They are also investing in high-end military capabilities to provide maximum deterrence.

"In addition, Norway has provided significant assistance to Ukraine, particularly with their maritime power. Norway possesses top-of-the-line fighter aircraft and is a very adept naval presence in Russia's backyard.

"Norway, Finland and Sweden are now all NATO members that live in the shadow of Russia and provide credible deterrence against Putin's aggression, which makes America safer. I look forward to building on the United States' relationship with Norway."
