Michael Papandrea Named to 2024 Class of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 40 Under 40 Program

Michael Papandrea, counsel in Lowenstein's Bankruptcy & Restructuring Department, has been named to the 2024 Class of the American Bankruptcy Institute's (ABI) 40 Under 40 program, which recognizes emerging leaders in the insolvency profession who are committed to the highest standards of achievement at work and in their communities.

Papandrea advises debtors, creditors' committees, individual creditors, liquidating trustees, institutional investors and other stakeholders on corporate bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues, including bankruptcy-related litigation. Consistently included in Bankruptcy rankings as a "Rising Star" by organizations such as Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, Papandrea is a prolific speaker and writer who has developed a nationwide reputation for his ability to guide creditors through the various issues that arise when dealing with companies in distress or bankruptcy.

Papandrea takes pride in being an ambassador to the next generation of lawyers, playing an integral role in Lowenstein's summer associate program and recruiting efforts, and maintaining close ties to Rutgers Law School and its community. He serves on the NextGen committee of the NJ Bankruptcy Lawyers Foundation and co-chairs their annual golf and tennis outing.

Before joining Lowenstein Sandler, Papandrea held several clerkships in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, having clerked for the Hon. Jerrold N. Poslusny, Jr. (District of New Jersey), the Hon. Ashley M. Chan (Eastern District of Pennsylvania), and the Hon. Gloria M. Burns (Chief Judge, District of New Jersey). He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and his B.S. from The College of New Jersey.

Papandrea lives in Berkeley Heights, NJ with his wife, Katie, and four children: Anthony, Mary, Grace, and Nicholas.
