Leadering Out Loud

Monday, August 5 | 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Deranecque Sims, ENP, CPE, CMCP

Deranecque Sims of the Memphis Police Emergency Communications Bureau delivered the engaging and interactive presentation "Leadering out Loud." The session explored what it really means to be a leader. Sims emphasized that leadership is much more than just a title or being "in charge." Leadership is about how we influence others through our words and what we do with them-and most importantly, that leadership comes from within.

The presentation, which included significant audience involvement and storytelling, emphasized that true leadership requires compassion. It also requires being open and responsive to criticism, feedback, and critique. Sims reminds us that "Leading is hard," but it is not just a job - it is a calling.
