Overnight detours scheduled on Carolina Crossroads Project at Colonial Life Boulevard/I-126 Interchange

Columbia, S.C. (July 19, 2024) - Four upcoming overnight closures are planned as part of the Carolina Crossroads project in Richland and Lexington Counties. Note that all dates are subject to change based on weather conditions. Visit the project webpage for other project information and updates. The South Carolina Department of Transportation will conduct temporary overnight closures of the existing I-126 ramps at Colonial Life Boulevard. Drivers will be detoured using the Greystone Boulevard/Riverbanks Zoo interchange at I-126.

The closure will allow SCDOT to continue bridge rehabilitation at the Colonial Life Boulevard interchange as part of Phase 1 of the Carolina Crossroads Project.

Signs will be posted to direct motorists through the detour route. Drivers may experience temporary slowdowns and stops in traffic and are advised to use caution, plan accordingly, and follow posted instructions. Maps of the detours can be found below.

The detour schedule for the Colonial Life Blvd. on-ramp to I-126 Eastbound is as follows:

  • Sunday, July 21 to Monday, July 22 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Monday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 23 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The detour schedule for the I-126 Westbound off-ramp to Colonial Life Blvd. is as follows:

  • Tuesday, July 23 to Wednesday, July 24 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 24 to Thursday, July 25 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
