2024 Mill and Overlay Program Coming to City Streets

July 19, 2024 - Numerous local streets in the city of Midland will see surface improvements as part of the City's annual mill and overlay program.

This application involves removing and replacing the top layers of a street's asphalt to reduce surface roughness and address minor deformations, cracking, and irregularities in the pavement surface. This process can extend the lifespan of a street's surface by up to 10 - 15 years.

Work will be conducted in two phases: Milling of the street's surface, following by overlaying a new asphalt street surface. On each street, one side of the street will be completed at a time to minimize disruption to residents and shorten the overall project duration. Some streets will also see curb and gutter and other concrete improvements prior to surface treatment. The following streets will receive mill and overlay treatment:

  • Beech Street from Waldo to Willow: September 3 - 6
  • E. Collins Street from George to Rodd: August 12 - 16
  • Eastlawn Drive from Abbott to Waldo: September 3 - 6
