State Pharmacy Organization Honors UToledo Faculty, Graduates

The Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy recognized a University of Toledo faculty member and two alumni from the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with awards during its annual meeting last month.

Dr. Mitchell Howard, a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice at UToledo, was presented with the OSHP Humanitarian Award, which recognizes a pharmacist who has made outstanding contributions to their community and society over the past year.

Howard, who joined the faculty in 2018 after earning his Pharm.D. from UToledo in 2016, volunteers with the student-led UToledo CommunityCare Clinics, regularly embarks on international medical mission trips and has worked with the Toledo YMCA on medication education initiatives.

The Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy also recognized UToledo graduates Dr. Lawrence Frazee with the OSHP Residency Program Director Award and Dr. Daniel Arendt with the Health-System Pharmacist of the Year Award.

Frazee, who earned his Pharm.D. in 1993, is the post-graduate year one residency director for Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. Arendt, a 2018 graduate of UToledo, is an assistant professor of pharmacy practice and administrative sciences at the University of Cincinnati.

Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy represents pharmacists, students, technicians and associates with an interest in health-system pharmacy practice.
