Thurrock Council has taken a significant step forward in its journey of improvement, with a new Corporate Plan being approved at Full Council yesterday.
The Corporate Plan, which is called 'A fresh start for Thurrock', sets out how the council will operate over the next five years as it recovers and rebuilds trust with residents and communities.
Setting a future direction for the council as it works with its partners and local communities to best serve the people of Thurrock, the plan establishes three priorities.
Cllr Lyn Worrall, Cabinet member for Overall Change and Improvement Agenda, said: "Thurrock Council's Corporate Plan sets a new purpose, outlining how we will bring together residents, businesses, the wider community of Thurrock and our partners as we work to become an enabling council which focuses on creating an excellent place where people can thrive.
"This plan builds on our Improvement and Recovery Plan setting out what we plan to do, how we plan to do it and what we want to achieve on behalf of our residents over the coming years.
"The approval of this plan is an important step in our journey of improvement and recovery. It not only sets out exactly the kind of council we want to be, but also what we must do to become that council and offer a fresh start for Thurrock.
"Through this plan we will be ambitious for Thurrock and its people, transforming what the council does and how we do it so families and communities can thrive.
"It sets out how we will be a different and better borough."
