On 3rd Anniversary, Sen. Ossoff Releases Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Report for Southwest Georgia

Since passage of the historic bipartisan infrastructure law 3 years ago today, Southwest Georgia communities have already received over $288 million in Federal infrastructure investments

Albany, Ga. - Since passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law three years ago today, Southwest Georgia communities have already received over $288 million in Federal infrastructure fundingto upgrade roads, expand high-speed internet, remove lead pipes from drinking water systems, and more.

Today, on the 3rd anniversary of the bipartisan infrastructure law, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released a progress report for Southwest Georgia, highlighting the historic upgrades that have been delivered so far, with more to come.

"Three years ago, we brought Republicans and Democrats in Congress together to pass the historic bipartisan infrastructure law, the most significant investment in America's infrastructure since the Eisenhower administration. This law is upgrading our roads, highways, and bridges; removing lead pipes from our drinking water systems; expanding broadband internet access; upgrading our electric grid; rebuilding our airports and our seaports, and more. Our historic bipartisan infrastructure law will continue to deliver for Georgia for years to come," Sen. Ossoff said.

In the last 3 years, Sen. Ossoff and the bipartisan infrastructure law have so far delivered:

  • Over $2 million to replace a 96-year-old bridge on State Route 7 near Cordele with a wider, safer, and more accessible bridge.
  • Over $6 million for upgrades at Valdosta Regional Airport, including $3 million to help construct a new air traffic control tower.
  • $9.7 million for public transportation needs across Albany and Valdosta.
  • $8.1 million to enhance the safety and efficiency of the I-75 Interchange with State Route 31 in Lowndes County.
  • $3.45 million to install railroad crossing warning devices at 5 Norfolk Southern crossings in Albany.
  • $3.3 million for improvements to the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport.
  • $210,000 for Dougherty County to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.
  • $240,000 for the City of Valdosta to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.
  • $72,000 for the City of Leesburg to plan safer streets upgrades that ensure pedestrian and commuter safety.
