The countdown is on for Florida's spiny lobster mini season, a two-day window where recreational divers and snorkelers can catch their share of these tasty crustaceans. This year, the mini season kicks off on Wednesday, July 24th, and runs through Thursday, July 25th. Years ago, the State of Florida created a short sportsman season to allow recreational users to catch lobsters prior to traps being deployed and commercial season beginning. This season became known to divers and snorkelers all over the world as "Mini Lobster Season."
