Traffic Shifting for US 280/SR 30 at Genesis Drive Monday Night
WHAT: Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will shift traffic overnight Monday, October 7 into a temporary roundabout configuration at the intersection of US 280/State Route (SR) 30 and Genesis Drive. Traffic control will include advanced warning signs, flaggers and law enforcement to ensure safety.

This construction progress is part of the larger US 280 Widening project that includes additional lanes from Olive Branch Road to Oracal Parkway and five new roundabouts anticipated for open to traffic by the end of 2025. The ongoing work for the I-16 Frontage Road (Genesis Drive) is tracking for completion by December 2024.

US 280 remains two lanes (one in each direction) in the work zone as construction progresses.

WHEN/WHERE: The traffic shift affects US 280/SR 30 and Genesis Drive intersection and approaches.

Nighttime Closures:

Monday, October 7 at 9 p.m. until Tuesday, October 8 at 5 a.m.
  • Traffic will move into a temporary, single-lane, roundabout configuration.

Advisory: Exact time may change due to weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.
