BPD in the Community: First Responders Support 8 Year Old Collin Genetti Moore in Heartwarming Cruiser Convoy

BPD in the Community: On Saturday, November 23, 2024, first responders from across the city came together to participate in a heartwarming cruiser convoy in support of 8-year-old Collin Genetti-Moore from Burlington, Connecticut. Collin, who is bravely battling Ewing Sarcoma for the second time in two years, has captured the hearts of many, including Detective Hawkins, who is assigned to the Homicide Unit and serves as an Associate Board Member for Cops for Kids with Cancer (CFKWC).

Detective Hawkins became aware of Collin's story and immediately took action, sponsoring him for a CFKWC grant. The application was approved at the board's March meeting, and Detective Hawkins personally traveled to Connecticut to present the family with the check. Since then, he has kept in regular contact with Collin and his family.

Collin is a passionate supporter of first responders, and what better way to lift his spirits than with a convoy of police cruisers, fire trucks, and ambulances. During the event, officers presented Collin with a plaque designating him as an Honorary Boston Police Officer, a gesture that brought a huge smile to his face and made the day truly unforgettable.
