The Frederick Police Department reminds residents and visitors of road closures and parking restrictions for the annual Kris Kringle Parade on Friday, December 13, 2024. This Frederick tradition brings festive spirit and holiday cheer to downtown but will impact traffic, so please plan ahead to minimize delays.
Event Details:
- Date: Friday, December 13, 2024
- Time: 5:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m.
- Parade Start: 6:30 p.m.
- Route: The procession will travel from the corner of South Carroll Street and East Patrick Street, turn right onto North Market Street, then left onto West Second Street, ending at Baker Park.
Road Closures & Parking Restrictions:
The following roads will have temporary closures and parking restrictions starting at 5:00 p.m.:
S. Carroll Street (E. South to E. Patrick)
- Road closure: 5:00 p.m. until the parade passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
E. All Saints Street (S. Carroll to S. East)
- Open to parade traffic only from 5:00 p.m. until the procession passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
E. Patrick Street (Carroll to Market)
- Road closure: 6:30 p.m. until the parade passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
N. Market Street (Patrick to 2nd Street)
- Road closure: 6:30 p.m. until the parade passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
S. Market Street (Patrick to Carroll Creek Way)
- Road closure: 6:30 p.m. until the parade passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
W. 2nd Street (Market to College Ave)
- Road closure: 6:30 p.m. until the parade passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
Memorial Parkway (Calvary Dr to W. 2nd)
- Road closure: 6:30 p.m. until the parade passes
- Parking restricted on both sides until 9:00 p.m.
Additional No Parking/No Driving Zones (5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.):
- E. All Saints Street (S. Market to S. Carroll Streets)
- Commerce Street (Carroll to East Streets)
Alternative Parking Options:
Attendees are encouraged to use downtown parking garages, conveniently located at:

44 E. Patrick St.
125 E. All Saints St.
