Gouverneur male arrested stemming domestic dispute

On September 5, 2024, State Police members arrested Jeffrey M. Putnam, age 48, of Gouverneur, NY, for reckless endangerment, criminal possession of weapon 3rd, and criminal possession of a firearm.

On September 5, 2024, at approximately 9:16 p.m., Troopers responded to State Highway 58, in the town of Gouverneur for domestic dispute. An investigation determined Putman and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical when Putman threw a ladder at the victim.

As the Troopers arrived on the scene, and as the Troopers approached the residence, they heard gunshots and retreated to a safer area.

Putman later came out of the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Putman was arrested and transported to SP Gouverneur for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur where he was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 or $60,000 bond.
