Published: Jul 30, 2024

REDDING- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and American Pavement Systems, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Little Cow Chip Project on State Route 299 in Shasta County. The $1.92 million project will provide an asphalt rubber chip seal on SR 299 near Round Mountain, from 0.8 mile west of Seaman Gulch Road to 1.6 miles east of Limestone Quarry Road. The project will also provide areas of asphalt concrete dig outs and the removal and replacement of thermoplastic markings and striping.

Construction activities are currently planned to start on Monday, August 5th. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 15-minute delays, Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. Please note the potential for loose gravel during chip placement operations. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of August.

Construction projects are subject to changes without prior notice.
