DRINKING WATER WARNING – BOIL WATER NOTICE-Salmon Falls/Monte Vista Service Area Only

EID customers affected by the outage have been notified via phone and/or emailed based on the contact information EID has on file.

BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING

We regret the inconvenience, but due to an unplanned water outage which occurred on August 14, 2024 at 8:32 PM, we are asking all customers who receive this message to immediately discontinue any water use prior to boiling the water until testing confirms your water meets drinking water standards. Repairs have been completed and the system will begin to recharge as soon as possible this morning, August 15, 2024. This advisory affects approximately 71 customers along Salmon Falls Road in El Dorado Hills, between Dorado Ridge Trail and Falcon Crest Lane, including all connecting streets.

What should I do? What does this mean?

  • DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
  • If you are unable to boil your water you can use household unscented liquid bleach. For clear water, use 8 drops (1/8 tsp.) of bleach for 1 gallon of water. For cloudy water, filter through a clean cloth and use 16 drops (1/4 tsp.) of bleach for 1 gallon of water. Mix well. Allow to stand for 30 minutes before using. Water may taste or smell like chlorine which means disinfection has occurred. An alternative to household bleach are water disinfection tablets, please follow the manufacturer's instructions.

What is being done?

The El Dorado Irrigation District is currently working on resolving the situation and we will inform you when tests show that water is safe to drink, and you no longer need to boil your water.
