Town of Tusten - Ten Mile River Scout Camps Dam Rehabilitation Project

Negative Declaration

Sullivan County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Ten Mile River Scout Camps Dam Rehabilitation Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The Ten Mile River Scout Camps dam rehabilitation project includes four dams at the Ten Mile River Scout Camps. The purpose of the project is to repair two dams (Rock Lake and Davis Pond) and permanently breach two dams (Mahl's Pond and Reservoir Pond) on unnamed tributaries of the Ten Mile River. An evaluation of the existing conditions of each of the four dams identified the need to rehabilitate each dam to bring into compliance with the NYS DEC Part 673 Dam Safety Regulations. At all four dams, the rehabilitation work is subject to NYS DEC's jurisdiction under Article 15, Title 15 of the Environmental Conservation Law and at Mahl's pond and Davis Pond the proposed work is also subject to NYS DEC's jurisdiction under Article 24, Title 23 of the Environmental Conservation Law. The project is located in the Town of Tusten, New York.
