Entrance Closure Alert: Powell St. Station at 5th and Market Streets

On Friday, November 22, 2024, our contractor will build a chain link work enclosure around the Market Street and 5th Street entrance to Powell St. Station. The entrance on the south side of the station will be closed off to public access for approximately eight months while a new protective canopy is built (see map).

The canopy will include a digital display to show train arrival times, a new security grille, LED lighting, security cameras, and other improvements. We expect work on this canopy to be complete by Summer 2025.

While this entrance is closed, patrons will still be able to access Powell St. Station via six other entrances, including Hallidie Plaza, which is not depicted on the map.
