Moolenaar Votes for Legislation Increasing Scrutiny of Farmland Purchases

Today, Congressman John Moolenaar voted for H.R. 9456, the Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act. The legislation would increase oversight in purchases of American farmland by CCP-affiliated organizations near military bases, and the ability of the federal government to block such purchases.

"There is no world in which the Chinese Communist Party would allow Americans to buy vast swaths of farmland next to its military bases. We need to protect our farmland and ensure our largest adversary cannot own land near sensitive U.S. military bases," said Moolenaar.

Moolenaar spoke in support of the legislation when it was debated on the House floor today. His remarks can be viewed here.

H.R. 9456 passed the House of Representatives 269 to 149.
