Delegation of the SCO Secretariat at the 12th CICA Analytical Forum

On 24 October 2024, Shanghai hosted the 12th Analytical Forum of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) with the theme Asia's New Role in a Multipolar World.

CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay, President of Shanghai University of International Studies Chen Dongxiao, Counsellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Cui Guojie spoke at the opening ceremony. In their theses they emphasised the need to strengthen international cooperation, intensify integration processes, jointly search for answers to global challenges. It was emphasised that the Forum is an important platform for discussing the role of Asia in world politics and economy in the context of increasing global interdependence.

In his speech at the plenary session, Oleg Kopylov, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, noted the growing role of Asia in modern conditions, stressing the importance of strengthening the interaction between such regional organisations as the SCO and CICA - the pillars of true multipolarity - to maintain stability and ensure sustainable development.

The Forum was attended by authoritative experts, scholars, diplomats from Asia and other regions of the world, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
