TS Debby Update #3

Published on August 04, 2024

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for western Alachua County as Tropical Storm Debby continues its path toward the Big Bend region of the gulf.

In anticipation of storm and forecasted impacts to the Gainesville area, City facilities will be closed tomorrow, Aug. 5. All business meetings scheduled to occur during this timeframe will be cancelled and rescheduled to a later date.

Gainesville is on the line between Watch and Warning zones, and should be considered under a Tropical Storm Warning.

  • Tropical storm conditions, with a 65 percent chance of seeing at least 39 mph winds, are expected Monday into Tuesday. Take a quick look around your yard and bring inside anything that could be blown around or become a projectile in a storm.
  • Heavy rainfall between 10-12 inches is expected through Thursday with some local flooding. Never drive through flooded areas. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
