Angela Alsobrooks, Everytown-Supported Gun Sense Candidate, Wins Election in Maryland

Everytown Supporters, Alongside Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers, Made More Than 12 Million Voter Contacts To Support Gun Sense Candidates Nationwide

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, and Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund declared a major victory today as voters elected gun sense champion Angela Alsobrooks to the U.S. Senate.

"Maryland voters want common-sense laws to keep their families safe from gun violence, so it's no surprise they just elected Angela Alsobrooks, who is a committed gun sense champion," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Senator-elect Alsobrooks can count on Everytown's support in the fight to keep our families safe from gun violence, which is now the leading cause of death for American children and teens."

"Angela Alsobrooks and I both grew up in Maryland, we're both proud mothers, and we're both deeply committed to ending the gun violence crisis." said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "She's a leader who understands what Maryland communities need, and I can't wait to see the progress we'll achieve together."

"Angela Alsobrooks has demonstrated her commitment to putting Marylanders first - and we couldn't be more excited about having her as a partner in the U.S. Senate," said Kadijah Kemp, a volunteer with the Maryland chapter of Moms Demand Action. "She is the kind of leader that we need in Maryland and across the country so that our communities can be kept safe from gun violence and we look forward to fighting alongside her."

Earlier this year, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund announced a $45 million major electoral program, which included a new grassroots voter contact program to help elect gun sense candidates and defeat gun extremists up and down the ballot in key swing districts and states. Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund investments included a record $7.5 million to train and elect Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers, including many running in key races across the country.
