Everytown Supporters, Alongside Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers, Made More Than 12 Million Voter Contacts To Support Gun Sense Candidates Nationwide

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, and Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund declared a major victory today as voters re-elected gun sense champion Robin Kelly to the U.S. Congress.

"Representative Kelly knows Americans want leaders who will take action on gun safety, which is why she has fought so hard for common-sense measures to keep guns out of dangerous hands," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown is grateful to count Representative Kelly as a partner, and eager to work with her to pass more life-saving gun safety laws."

"Representative Kelly has been a powerful leader in the fight for safer communities for over a decade and has consistently prioritized gun safety in Congress," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "She has introduced lifesaving legislation, authored The Kelly Report on Gun Violence in America, and worked to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. We need her in Congress to continue the fight for safer communities, and we look forward to building on our progress together."

"Representative Kelly is a proven gun sense champion. Today, we celebrate her reelection as a powerful testament to our collective fight against gun violence," said Pastor Brenda Mitchell, senior fellow with the Everytown Survivor Network and co-lead of the Illinois chapter of Moms Demand Action. "I know first hand the devastating impact gun violence can have on families and communities. Under Representative Kelly's leadership and steadfast commitment to gun safety, we will create a world where every person can feel safe from the threat of gun violence."

Earlier this year, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund announced a $45 million major electoral program, which included launching a new grassroots voter contact program to help elect gun sense candidates and defeat gun extremists up and down the ballot in key swing districts and states. As part of the electoral program, Everytown hired and deployed 36 field organizers across the ten states.
