L.A. Area Chamber Issues Statement on Passing of Former L.A. City Councilmember Richard Alatorre

LOS ANGELES, CA - AUGUST 13, 2024 - The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement upon the passing of former Los Angeles City Councilmember Richard Alatorre:

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Councilmember Richard Alatorre. He was a trailblazer and influential political leader in Los Angeles. He not only served his constituents but mentored countless political and community leaders. As the first Chair of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), he played a pivotal role in shaping the Los Angeles public transportation system that we have today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends," said Maria S. Salinas, President & CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
