Candidate filing for the November Election opens July 15

Election season is approaching. Candidate filing for the Nov. 5 election opens Monday, July 15.

The Nov. 5 election will have the following seats on the ballot:

  • District Three (full term - four years)
  • District Five (full term - four years)

Registered voters will vote only for the City Council seat in their district. To review which district you live in, go to: menlopark.gov/election.

Individuals who wish to run for one of the two seats on the November ballot must:

  • Be registered to vote in and live in the district in which they are running
  • Set up an appointment with the City Clerk by email ([email protected]) or phone (650-330-6621) to begin the candidate filing process
  • Complete all necessary paperwork with the City Clerk's office between July 15 and Aug. 9

The San Mateo County Elections Division is holding a candidate seminar July 24 at 10 a.m. This seminar will cover important topics including filing deadlines, filing forms, candidate statements, campaign finance reports and voter data.
