Trunk and Treating Homeless Families at Mather

Beetlejuice, Mario and Spiderman handed out candy, while Princess Peach, a pumpkin and a Dinosaur Hunter facilitated games. Bags full of candy and stickers, clutched by children running from trunk to trunk in the sunlight as their parents feasted on BBQ and ice cream and listened to music.

The Mather Community Campus Trunk or Treat Event was alive with fun, laughter and sugar as Sacramento County's three shelter programs celebrated with an early Halloween party for its guests. Next Move, the County's non-profit operator, runs three separate sheltering programs on the Mather Community Campus, each aimed to serve a different population of people experiencing homelessness.

Singles Emergency Shelter

Singles Emergency Shelter Program
is a short term shelter program located at the Mather Community Campus. This program provides up to 9 months of shelter to assist participants with overcoming barriers to long-term housing. A comprehensive array of supportive services including but not limited to, case management, housing services, credit repair, employment assistance, mental health support, AOD treatment support and rental assistance.

Family Transitional Shelter

Family Transitional Housing
is located at the Mather Community Campus. This program provides transitional housing to families while overcoming barriers to long-term housing. A comprehensive array of supportive services including but not limited to, case management, housing services, credit repair, employment assistance, mental health support, AOD treatment support and temporary rental assistance.

Adolfo Transitional Youth

Youth coming out of the foster care system face so many adverse life experiences that it can be challenging to identify and address each barrier for individual participant success. Next Move operates the Adolfo program that includes a wide range of services and a robust staffing model to ensure participants are properly assessed and put on the right path to becoming self-reliant.

In addition to our campus, youth have the opportunity of living offsite in their own apartment with staggered rent subsidy as they transition into independent living and self-sufficiency. We have up to 30 available openings. While youth live off campus, they still have access to the onsite resources such as life skills, mental health services, case management, and more.
