DSAC to host Nov. 13 workshop on teaching neurodivergent students

October 31, 2024

Teaching Workshop Supporting Neurodivergent Students in the Classroom, Nov 13 at 4 p.m.

Faculty and graduate TAs are invited to attend an interactive workshop on how to support students who are neurodivergent (ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, and more). This workshop focuses on barriers Neurodivergent (ND) students face in their classes, and how faculty can better understand and respond to them. Participants will learn about neurodivergence from the angles of disability accommodation and Universal Design for Learning, including factors such as executive function and social communication. We will think about ways to help ND students be more successful in our classes through practical adjustments to our teaching methods, including syllabus statements and assignment design.
