State Police arrest Gansevoort following a stolen vehicle

Press Release

On October 15, 2024, State Police of Wilton, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, arrested Aaron D. Freedman, 35, of Gansevoort, NY, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the third degree.

On October 14, 2024, at about 9:42 p.m., Troopers received the report of a stolen vehicle. The investigation determined that the vehicle had been stolen from outside a home on State Route 32 in Gansevoort, NY. The owner located the vehicle a short distance away, allegedly occupied by Freedman. When approached, Freedman fled on foot and was witnessed to be in possession of a long gun. An extensive search of the area failed to find him. The stolen vehicle was seized and later returned to the owner. Freedman did not brandish or threaten the use of the firearm during the incident, and no one was injured.

On October 15, 2024, Homeland Security located Freedman in the area of the Champlain Port of Entry in Champlain, NY, where he was taken into custody. At the time, Freedman was operating a vehicle that had been reported stolen to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office from a Gansevoort, NY, home at about 12:41 a.m. following the previous stolen vehicle incident. Freedman was in possession of a long gun when he was arrested in Troop B.

Following his processing and arraignment of the charges in Troop B, Freedman was transported to SP Wilton for processing. He was then arraigned at the Moreau Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
