State Police arrest Schenectady man for illegally possessing stol...

On October 26, 2024, State Police of Princetown arrested Basean H. Brooks, 31, of Schenectady, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree.

On October 26, 2024, at about 8:05 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-890 in Rotterdam, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. Brooks was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. Further investigation discovered an illegally possessed loaded handgun allegedly belonging to Brooks in the vehicle. That handgun was determined to have been reportedly stolen from South Carolina. The gun was seized, and the driver was released from the stop with Vehicle and Traffic Law citations.

Brooks was arrested at the scene and transported to SP Princetown for processing. He was then transported to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
